When the world experienced the horrors of Tsunami, Dr. Roysircar-Sodowsky responded. When hurricanes Katrina and Rita ravished the coats of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama, she took action. Dr. Roysircar-Sodowsky, who has spoken nationally and internationally, is a prolific writer and community servant who has continuously serviced survivors of disaster-stricken areas. She now comes to Mississippi State University October 22nd, 23rd, and 24th, 2008, after the wake of both Gustav and Ike to share experience while providing training.

Dr. Gargi Roysircar-Sodowsky is a noted psychologist, a faculty member of Antioch University New England (ANE), and a founding director of ANE�fs Multicultural Center for Research and Practice. Dr. Gargi Roysircar-Sodowsky focuses on educating volunteers in disaster trauma, on compassion fatigue, vicarious trauma, and self-care of disaster outreach volunteers. With her students, she has also researched the trauma of 9/11 responders and of political refugees in the United States. Dr. Gargi Roysircar-Sodowsky has worked with survivors of the 2004Tsunami in India and in the aftermath of 2005 hurricanes Katrina and Rita, as well as with HIV/AIDS-infected and affected women and children in South Africa and Botswana.

Who can attend?
Counselors, Psychologists, Social Workers, students, Clergy, and Red Cross volunteers are all welcome to participate in this professional development.
